As you all know, we are expecting a baby boy in less than three
months, and we have officially begun the proccess of making our home
ready for him. The house in which we live is a great house, but has
not been well maintained and is currently no absolutely no shape for
a new baby (i.e. carpet has been victimized by a succesion of dogs
and spills, has taken on a life and intelligence of its own in
bacteria, and needs to go ASAP, several holes in walls, section of
ceiling falling down in baby's room, et cetera). The problem is
this . . . it is going to be much more work than we originally
planned!!! We ransacked Home Depot and were able to get all of the
supplies we need, but we are unable to have it all professionaly
installed (besides, Hans has the idea that he "can do it all himself"
(Oy!!!).
In short, we need to repair/replace a few sections of drywall,
replace a section of ceiling, AND tear out carpet and install a
laminate floor in the lower level of our house as well as in the
baby's room. Due to time and space constraints we need to get these
things done as quickly as possible so that we can finish making the
house baby-ready.
What I'm getting to is this; Teiwaz, the stubborn mule of a man
that he is, insists on doing all of this himself. Keep in mind that
he was recently hospitalized for back problems and is currently on a
rigorous spinal injection schedule as well as on the waiting list for
a surgery to fuse his lower spine. He refuses to ask for help, but I
decided that I am going to go over his head on this one.I tried to
help with some basic painting, but am almost seven months pregnant
and cannot do as much as I'd like, and Hans has forbidden me from
trying to help with the rest.
Raider has generousely offered to come down to San Antonio next
weekend, July 20th (also my birthday!) and help in any way he can. I
am asking that anyone else who would like to come that weekend to
help with this massive home improvement project please drop us a line
or a call and let us know. We can use all the help we can possibly
get and I would appreciate it more than you will ever know. We can't
give back much, but I can gueruntee for everyone a place to sleep,
plenty of food, and cold beer for the entirety of the weekend.
Many thanks,
-Rivkah
